In the visible spectrum range, each surface of an optical glass element reflects about 4% energy; thus, if 100% energy enters the first surface, about 92% comes out of the second surface.<br \/>\nThis is bad for optics. But how do the interference phenomena work?<br \/>\nThe addition of a layer with a thickness one-quarter of the incidence wave ray produces a delay of one-half-length wave (the light in the transparent layer travels twice the 1\/4 layer thickness).
