In most cases they enable the elements or assemblies to perform according to systems requirements. Coating requirements, specifying mostly optical and durability properties, are defined in the drawing of the element to be coated and in a special coating specification.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-three\"><h3 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:24;line-height:1.3;\"><h3>Optical coatings can be classified as follows:<\/h3><\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><h3>According to its function<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Reflective coatings (metallic and dielectric),<\/li>\n<li>Antireflective (AR) coatings (single- or multi-layer, narrow- or broadband),<\/li>\n<li>Transparent conductive coatings,<\/li>\n<li>Beamsplitters,<\/li>\n<li>Filters (high-, low-, and band-pass),<\/li>\n<li>High-efficiency (HE) coatings,<\/li>\n<li>High durability (HD) coatings, and<\/li>\n<li>Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><h3>According to the spectral wavelength range<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Ultraviolet: ~0.2\u20130.4 mm,<\/li>\n<li>Visible: ~0.40\u20130.75 mm,<\/li>\n<li>Near infrared (NIR): ~0.75\u20133.00 mm,<\/li>\n<li>Mid infrared: ~3\u20135 mm, and<\/li>\n<li>Far infrared: ~5\u201320 mm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-three\"><h3 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:24;line-height:1.3;\"><h3>Reflective coatings can be classified in the following groups:<\/h3><\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><h3>According to the place on the substrate<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Front surface coating, and<\/li>\n<li>Back surface coating;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><h3>According to the coating material<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Aluminum (Al),<\/li>\n<li>Silver (Ag),<\/li>\n<li>Gold (Au),<\/li>\n<li>Cupper (Cu),<\/li>\n<li>Rhodium (Rh), and<\/li>\n<li>Platinum (Pt).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-three\"><h3 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:24;line-height:1.3;\"><h3>Coating Materials<\/h3><\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-6\"><p>Coating materials and their deposition-process parameters are usually\u00a0proprietary and are not disclosed to the customer. The manufacturer specifies the materials, number, sequence, and thicknesses of the layers, and other parameters of the coating process to achieve the coating requirements stated in the drawing and in the specification.
